About

As a story teller, I have been drawing nationwide audiences to the cash register for decades. At times, my work has been so compelling, I and my team couldn’t keep the shelves restocked fast enough.

Since I was a young child, I have felt most purposeful and helpful while giving myself over to writing. From that place, I aim to weave together hearts and sensibilities; explore the darker contrasts of life that can make its planes glisten. It’s often my intention to help readers find self-acceptance and resolve: I’m not afraid to dole out my vulnerabilities to help readers tamp down their own.

I combine a seasoned Marketing Executive’s ability to captivate consumers with a Penwoman’s passion for telling stories that spark readers’ hearts.

In a past life, for 20+ years, I designed and delivered nationwide marketing programs for some of the world’s most recognizable brands.  If you’ve ever shopped for a new car, a half-gallon of ice cream, breakfast cereal or skin cream, chances are my creativity, strategy skills and written words have already touched you. And perhaps, even influenced your choice.

I’m totally at ease in the C-suite.

The difference now is that I choose to delight and inspire audiences with products of my own making and choosing:  my own words and stories, my personal essays and novels. Please check out my Writing section to see more.

My successful career developing and launching consumer products transfers beautifully to publishing and launching stories.

My business experiences include: Developing and launching viable new products that exceed expectations; designing, conducting and interpreting consumer research to identify market segments; positioning products; designing and delivering the communication tools to bring those products to market, such as package design, press releases; advertising copy; sell-in strategies; and delivering live presentations before audiences of hundreds of prospects.

I think this comment from Jason Mantel, my former boss in my last Marketing VP role, describes me well: Julie “is a polished professional who comes through as credible and confident in every setting.  She’s the full package: thinker, writer, leader. She makes any team stronger.  We’re fortunate to have her help us grow, and I have no doubt from our clients’ feedback that they agree.”

Agents and publishers don’t need to worry about my ability to market my writing products.  I’ve got that part down pat.
